BIOGRAPHY

Born in Lima, PERU, Daniel MENACHO attended the French Peruvian School until he got his Bachelor degree Option D (Biology and Sciences). In 1989, he joined the University of Bordeaux to study Economics. At the end of his master degree he partnered with a Bordeaux born friend to create thefirst Peruvian-French wine importer in Lima after civil war ended in 1995.

Ten years after and more than 80 containers of Bordeaux wines shipped to Peru, Daniel was contacted by a Spanish Consortium of prestigious wineries, representing 12 different appellations to develop the United Stated & Latin America  fast growing markets. In 2007, he opened a subsidiary of the Consortium in partnership with one of the largest wine importers of the country : Opici Imports. Based in Princeton, New Jersey, he traveled all over the country supporting 35 local distributors and more than 300 sales representatives.

In 2010, after second child was born, Daniel decided to come back to its wine roots, Bordeaux, to join an executive program on Winemaking and Viticulture at the Lycee Agricole de Blanquefort (BTSA) and immediately after he was appointed by a prestigious Bordeaux wine "negociant" to manage its Export Department of 6 sales managers for 3 busy years. During this time Daniel and his team shipped hundreds of containers to over 32 countries including China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam and more difficult markets such as Ukraine, Brazil, India, Panama, Mexico, Cameroon, Nigeria and other Western African countries.

Nowadays, Daniel works as an independent consultant and educator, teaching at several prestigious private and public wine business schools. He also collaborates with several wineries and wine merchants as a business developer, visiting the key wine markets every year.
